So let’s talk about the Trop – formally known as the Tropicana Resort and Casino. Overall, we give this property high marks for the fact that it’s huge, has lots of options, and you can spend at least a whole night here. The only real problem – it’s not as popular as it could be.
Highlights
Bars & Clubs – throughout the Trop property there are many different options for bar hopping and hitting clubs. You could even set up a great on property pub crawl and get pretty nuts by the time it was over. They have options to satisfy every type of drinking desire including Ri Ra Irish Pub, Hooters, Cuba Libre, Red Square, and clubs like 32 degrees and Providence
Rooms – many of the rooms have been remodeled recently, and most importantly – they’re very affordable when compared to some of the other properties that offer this many options. You’re getting a great “resort” for the price of one of the lesser properties (the reason why being explained in the lowlights).
Location – one of the great parts about the Trop is the fact that it’s very close to Bare Exposure, AC’s famous strip club. Yup, just walk out your hotel, across the street and you’re pretty much there. Oh yeah, the location’s also great because it’s on the boardwalk, you can get to other places like Caeser’s easily, and the beach is close but we all know the fact that it’s next to Bare Exposure is the best part of the location.
Lowlights
Crowd / Popularity – so you’re throwing a bachelor party and you want to have an amazing time. One of the key elements of that is being in a place with fun people. Sure, you could lock your party in a room for the weekend with a donkey and 12 strippers and have a great time, but having a great crowd wherever you go helps. We aren’t saying that the Trop doesn’t get crowded many times and there aren’t enough people – it’s just the fact that because of some bad management over the years or something – it’s not nearly as popular as it should be when you look at all the highlights. The Trop was the first of the more lavish properties so as new ones popped up, it has lost some steam. Just something to keep in mind as you’re weighing options.
Overall, we highly recommend staying at the Trop.. It may not be the absolute best property on the island – but you can definitely make it that way for your bachelor party.
